Okay, so before I get to what this post is really about, I wanted to write about what happened over the weekend first, so I don't forget to include it in next month's update, because it's just too cute.
So, ever since Harry discovered Toy Story, he's been wanting to go to someone's house and look for the characters in the bushes. I think the characters are in the bushes during one of the movies, so I'm guessing that's where he got the idea. Anyways, he was talking about this for weeks. So, we found a little Buzz and Woody doll and on Saturday Harry and I went over to my dad's house. I quickly hid the toys in the front bushes and had Harry come and look for them.
OMG, the face when he first laid eyes on Buzz was priceless! I don't think he really believed they'd be there. Harry loved the toys of course, and spent most of the afternoon running around with Buzz yelling, "To Infinity, and Beyond!"
So, anyways, back to what this post was supposed to be about... bike riding! As you might recall, Santa brought Harry a bike for Christmas. He finally got to test it out for the first time last week. The weather has been so nice, so even though there's still a lot of snow on the ground in the pictures, it was like 50 degrees.
And yes, we had him ride his bike in the street. The street literally has one house on it, and the lady who lives there came out and watched us for a bit. It's really the perfect spot to learn how to ride!
Harry's never pedaled anything before, so it's going to take some time for him to totally get it. I think he understands the concept, but actually doing it will take a bit more practice.
After a while Harry got frustrated with himself and just wanted to steer the bike (while being pushed), or push it around.
All in all, I think it was a good first ride. Plus, it was just wonderful to get out and enjoy the nice weather. I am crossing my fingers it's here to stay! While this winter wasn't as bad as last year, it was just so cold for so long. I don't think we had a day above freezing for three months straight!
Isn't his helmet
adorable? It's probably Harry's favorite thing about riding a bike.
