Redecorating

Over the last few months I have done a bit of minor redecorating and wanted to share the changes I've made to our place. Nothing major, but it's been fun none the less.

Living Room

Picture Frame

This is the corner of our living room. We used to have our DVD stand here, but Harry wouldn't stop playing with them, so we tossed it and now store our DVDs in a cabinet in our bedroom. Our big ottoman fits perfectly in the space but I struggled to find something I liked for the blank wall. I ended up finding this picture frame at Hobby Lobby. When I bought it, the frame was red and green so I spray painted it to match our decor.

Mirror

This wall needed some serious TLC. I had three of those cheapy frames with Cricut die cuts here. I looked at quite a few places and everything I kind of liked was black, just like the other two wall hangings I have in this area of our house. Novica to the rescue! The company, which sells artisan-made items, contacted me for a review. I loved the company's mission and what they , stand for, so it was easy to say yes. I spent a lot of time browsing the site and had a hard time picking something because everything is so beautiful!

I finally settled on this gorgeous hand painted ceramic frame mirror from Leonardo Godinez, an artisan in Mexico.

The mirror is solidly made and survived it's journey just fine from Mexico (remember all that bubble wrap last month?). We didn't want to put any more holes on the wall so we hung it with some super heavy duty Command strips. It's been up for a couple weeks and has held up great.

If you're looking a unique gift or something for yourself, definitely check out Novica. They work with artisans from all over the world that sell clothing, jewelry, furniture and home decor and more.

I got the flowers on each side of the mirror at Hobby Lobby. I'm not loving the color so I might spray paint them once the weather gets warm.

Harry's Room

When Harry was first born his room was basically half craft room, half nursery. Now that he's a little older I'm trying to condense the craft stuff so the space is more for him. I put these shelves up when we first moved here and they housed my Cricut cartridges and other craft supplies. Last month I got rid of all my stuff and put some toys on the shelf to make it feel more like a 2 year old's room.

Harry absolutely loved it the first time I showed him. I'd love to redo his room in vibrant colors like these, but I'm going to try and hold off until he actually uses the room for more than just diaper changes.

One other addition to his room is this canvas I painted with Bob Dylan lyrics.

The ceramic thing is something I made in elementary school

While I love the lyrics of the song (this is the second verse of "Forever Young"), the canvas itself it pretty boring to look at, especially against our disgusting hospital white walls. I'm thinking of doing a cross stitch birth announcement,  but I haven't decided on a pattern yet.

Bathroom

I'm in the beginning stages of redoing our main bathroom. I've just been itching to redo a whole room lately and the bathroom seemed the most doable. I chose a woodland theme and have made a few cross stitch pieces to decorate with. Here's a sneak peak at one.

I will try and do a little room tour when it's complete, whenever that might be.

Disclaimer: Everything featured in this post was paid for by me, with the exception of the ceramic mirror, which I received from Novica in exchange for this review.
