Recently I was invited back to Bahama Breeze in Schaumburg to try out their newest menu item, rice bowls. We've eaten at the island-themed restaurant a few times since first trying it in January and it has quickly become one of our family's favorites. No need to twist our arms to get us to go back, that's for sure!
As soon as we sat down we ordered drinks and a plate of Yuka Fries.
We'd never tried yuca before, so I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering them. Turns out they're pretty similar to french fries but with a slightly sweeter taste and fluffier texture. The fries were served with ketchup and complimented them perfectly. If you ever see them on a menu, I suggest you give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
The new rice bowl menu features six different options, most of which sound delishious! It was hard to just pick two to try. We decided to break our "no red meat" rule for the evening and ordered the Chipolte Beef and Asian Chicken & Vegetable bowls to share.

The Asian Chicken & Vegetable bowl was your basic stir-fry meal with teriyaki-type sauce and a variety of different veggies. The mushrooms and edamame were my favorite parts of the dish. The Chipolte Beef was our favorite of the two bowls. The meat was so flavorful and the rice and veggies all tasted wonderful with the chipolte sauce. It was very spicy, but I was able to take the heat with a large glass of water in hand and mixing in some of the sour cream to dull the hotness.
If you're lucky enough to live in an area with a Bahama Breeze, go check it out if you haven't! We haven't had a bad dish yet and the new rice bowls are a great addition to their already large menu.
On an unrelated note, I know I've been a bad blogger lately. I just haven't been doing much lately and post after post of how we watched TV and took an evening walk would get really boring. Plus Ant and Harry have been sick so I've been tending to them. Crossing my fingers I don't get the bug, too! I do have some fun post ideas so stick around and things should be more active around here in the coming weeks.
