Harry has been eating foods for about two months now. It's still kind of hit or miss with the purees. He's always excited to see his little baby spoon and usually loves the first few bites, but sometimes he loses interest quickly, and other times he'll eat a whole bunch.
When Ant and I sit down for dinner I usually give him a Mum Mums, some puffs (which he is starting to pick up and feed himself) or fruit in a mesh feeder. He loves feeding himself! While I'm not ready to give up the purees all together, I think adding more finger foods into his diet is a good idea. Not just for the nutritional factor, but it's a good learning experience for him, too. Yesterday I cut up a sweet potato in to slices, sprinkled a little cinnamon on top and baked them in the oven (450 degrees for about 15 minutes).
I was hoping they would turn out a little crispier, but they were more on the mushy side. I tried one and they weren't terrible so I gave a few to H-man to try.
Since they were so mushy they fell apart fast and he wasn't able to chew much, but I think he enjoyed the little bit he did eat.
Not sure which finger foods we'll try next, but I've got some zucchini and cauliflower in the fridge so when I make that maybe I'll give him a few pieces.
What other finger foods are good for this age?
