Mother's Day

So yesterday was my first official Mother's Day! I was very blessed that Ant and Harry actually gave me a Mother's Weekend instead of just one day.

Friday morning the boys and I all ran a few errands. First we went to JoAnns so I could get some fabric to make extra inserts for our cloth diapers. So much cheaper than buying them! After JoAnns we went to Target for our weekly grocery shopping trip. Recently I've become a couponer and love shopping at Target. The Target website has a coupon section so I always print some before we go. I also check other couponing websites like Coupon Network and Coupon Suzy. I'm not an extreme couponer by any means, but I think I was able to save us about $20 on stuff we would have bought anyways.

After we got home and put all the groceries away the fun really started. My first Mother's Day gift was a few hours to myself. Ant took Harry out and I stayed at home to clean and organize. Fun, right? During the day Harry doesn't let me work more than a half hour uninterrupted so it's been difficult keeping up with everything I need to do around the house. While they were out I was able to do laundry, organize two closets, make two batches of applesauce along with some random cleaning and organizing throughout the house.

Ant really liked taking Harry out. They don't get to spend a whole lot of one-on-one time together so the arrangement was beneficial for all three of us. Ant agreed that from time to time he'll take Harry out so I can have an afternoon off to do whatever I need. Awesome!

When they got home Ant handed me a Macy's bag; a Mother's Day present from Harry.

Well hello, Mr. Dior :). One of my favorite perfumes, Dior Addict Shine, was discontinued, so as a replacement Harry and Ant bought me some Addict 2. It smells wonderful! It's very similar to the Shine but a little more citrus-y. As you can see they were able to get me a couple samples of my beloved Shine, too.

Saturday morning I woke up to Ant telling me he had to run out to Walgreens for something. When he got back he had a beautiful orchid for me (from Roselle Flowers).

I loooove orchids! Saturday afternoon was pretty low key, which was just fine by me. For dinner we headed down to Oakbrook to eat at our favorite cafe, Labriola. Our meal was delish, per usual.

After dinner we went to Home Depot to pick out some flowers to put outside on our patio.

After paying for the flowers we went to Binny's to pick out some wine and beer. (Remember when we went before Harry was born?) I grabbed another bottle of Bree Reisling and Ant chose two different kinds of Boulevard, Wheat and their summer ale, Zon.

We got home around eight o'clock and Harry was asleep by nine. Ant and I just hung around for the rest of the evening watching SNL (the digital short was great!) and enjoying drinks and dessert we brought home from Labriola.

Yesterday Ant and Harry woke me up with breakfast in bed. When I finally made it out to the kitchen a beautiful vase of flowers was waiting for me, along with cards from the two of them.

It was a pretty low-key day. Harry and I took a nap together. I'm not an advocate for bed sharing, but I made sure we did it in a safe way and I kept dozing in and out of sleep.

My final Mother's Day presents are on their way. My diaper organizer should be here later today and a Nicki's Diapers order should be here sometime this week. We ordered a Tweedle Bugs diaper, an Imagine diaper and a stick of CJ's BUTTer.

Over all it was a great weekend and I am very thankful for my little family. I have a lot to live up to for Father's Day!

  1. I didn't know Target had a coupon section! I'm not extreme but like to use them when I can!

    1. Oh ya, they've always got quite a few good coupons on there! Definitely check it out.

  2. What an awesome 1st mothers day weekend you had! Thanks for the info on the coupons. I love to save money when possible! Have a blessed week!
