Cloth Diapering

A bunch of moms in my Facebook moms group cloth diaper. Some of them are super cray cray over the whole thing (hi ladies!!!), it's kind of funny how excited they can get over diapers! I've always been interested in it but didn't think it made sense because we don't have our own washer and dryer. There are a couple ladies in the group who live in apartments/condos and are able to cloth diaper, so I had no excuse to look in to doing it.

I initially looked in to gDiapers. gDiapers are hybrid diapers, part disposable, part reusable cloth. After doing a little research on them I figured it would actually cost us more than using Huggies. No thanks! My biggest reason for wanting to cloth diaper is the savings versus buying disposables month after month.

I was talking with Ant this morning and he said we could give cloth diapering a try! I was surprised at how little persuading it took on my part to get him to agree to it. Probably because he'll refuse to launder them. Once I get a routine down with them I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.

The routine is going to be the biggest hurdle. The washing machines at our condo don't have any extra rinse options, so I purchased a diaper sprayer to help get them clean. I also found a hand washing tutorial online, so that is another option for us. I plan on line drying them as much as I can to cut down on laundry costs.

Since I don't know if we'll like cloth diapering or not, I just purchased six to start. Two Kawaii diapers, two FuzziBunz One Size and two FuzziBunz Perfect Size. From what I've read, to cloth diaper full time it's recommended to have at least 20+. I'll be sure to show off our "fluff" when we get it!

We've got a whole box of Huggies still so we will definitely use them as we're building our cloth diaper stash, assuming we like it. Cloth wipes are another thing I need to think about. For right now I'm totally fine with using disposables, but might think of using reusable in the future.

Squee! I'm so excited to start cloth diapering. I just really hope it works for us. If it doesn't, at least we tried and I won't wonder about it anymore.

  1. So excited for you to try them! Let the addiction begin!

  2. I hope you love it ;) J has terrible allergies and the pollen is ridiculous right now, so I'm drying ours on a rack inside. I move it into the window so they get some sunlight and they're good to go! Now, when V can crawl I may need a different option ;)

  3. Yay! I'm so excited for you! I've only done it with one diaper yet haha but I already love it! I have 4 more on the way!

  4. good luck with the cloth I always wanted to try but since I am the full time worker, my husband made sure I knew that he was not going to be cleaning diapers lol. Cloth diapers are sooo much cuter looking as well.

  5. Hello! I?ve been reading your web site for a while now and finally got the courage to go ahead and give you a shout out from Kingwood Texas! Just wanted to say keep up the good work! - Manufacturer of Industrial Sewing Machine
