Fleece Me

Most of my updates are complete, yay! It took forever because Blogger thought it would be fun to relabel some widgets which made it difficult to find the HTML code I needed to altar. Niiiice. I'll still be working on the layout a bit tonight, but for the most part I'm pretty happy with the new look!

Here is Harry's outfit of the day!

Stop taking pictures mom, I just wanna eat!

It's a really nice fleece outfit from Carters. Some of Ant's coworkers got it for us, which was very thoughtful. I love the little pocket in front!

I took a three hour nap this afternoon because I felt super shit-tay this morning, and while it really did help me feel better (the four Excedrin did nothing), I feel a little out of sorts since I haven't done much else today.

(Don't) Take Me Out Tonight
Ohhh, and we I decided we're not going to eat out again until February. Lately we've been getting way too much takeout. Instead of saying he wants me to make something for dinner, Ant's meal selections as of late have all been restaurants. I don't mind doing it once, maybe twice a week, but anymore than that is a bit extreme and costly in my opinion. I said it was okay if we still order our traditional Friday night takeout, but that's it for now! If it's not too cold this Friday we're actually thinking of going to a restaurant with Harry for the first time. We were just thinking of going to Chili's or Applebee's, something pretty low key.

Tonight I'm making spaghetti squash, love that stuff! If you've never tried it, I highly recommend it. I add yellow squash, zucchini and mushrooms to the spaghetti squash along with some tomato sauce and it makes for a very nice "pasta" dish!

Our First Walk

It's been unseasonably warm around here this week. Yesterday the high was in the 50s so Ant and I took Harry on his first walk.

The sun was a bit bright on his eyes but we pulled up the canopy on the car seat and he was fine. He fell asleep about three minutes in to the walk. I can't wait until the spring when we'll be able to take him on walks every day!

And last night we watched The Descendants. Ant received it in the mail because he's a member of the Writers Guild. We both really enjoyed it, I think it's still in theaters if you're interested in seeing it.

Oh, and I made a few updates to the blog, check out my new pages About, Why I Blog, My Pregnancy, and Month By Month.

2 Months Old

Harry is two months old today!

1/7/12

Click here to see his one month update. Here are this month's stats.

Weight: Probably around 10 pounds
Height: 23ish inches
Diaper Size: Size 1s
Clothing Size: 0-3 month
Eating: 3-4 ounces of Similac NeoSure seven times a day

Earlier this week I packed up all of his newborn size clothes and put them in a big bin.

They'll stay there until Harry 2.0 comes around.

Outfit of the Day

I've seen a lot of blogs do Outfit of the Day posts, so I thought it might be fun to do them too, with a twist.

Here is Harry's outfit of the day! I won't be posting these every day, but when he wears an exceptionally cute outfit I'll try and post it. This thermal jumpsuit is by Amy Coe. I just love the Jolly Roger on the back! One of my sorority symbols is a skull and crossbones so I had to get this outfit when I saw it at Once Upon A Child (I think that's where I got it).

Nipple confusion?

Crib Time
Tonight we are officially making the transition from pack n' play to crib! I went ahead and ordered that Sony Baby Call monitor I mentioned the other day. It arrived this morning and we immediately set it up. Since this won't be the first night Harry has spent in his crib, I don't anticipate it to be too difficult. My lil' guy is growing up so fast, he'll be two months old in two days!

19 Days

December 16, 2011

19 days later...

January 4, 2012

I'm amazed at the amount he's grown in less than three weeks, craaaazy!

And I think he might have smiled at me this morning! I have been anxiously awaiting Harry's first real smile for weeks. He's been smiling on and off since he was six weeks old, but I always feel like they've just been a reflex. This morning I was holding him and gave him a big smile, and he gave me an even bigger one! I can't wait to get a picture of his simile because it is seriously the cutest thing ever. You guys will all melt when you see it!

Great Little Shopper

How cute is this outfit?

Yesterday morning the boys and I headed out to Target to pick up a few things. Before having Harry I never realized how much time it takes to get ready to go out with a baby. I can't just get up and go anymore! I have to make sure the diaper bag is fully stocked, that Harry has the appropriate clothes on for the weather and that he's fed and changed before leaving. It takes a lot to get us out the door these days!

Anyways, we did make it to Target and Harry was content the entire time. Every time we've gone shopping he's just slept in his carrier. Yesterday, however, he was wide awake and alert the whole time. He kept staring at the lights on the ceiling, for some reason they fascinated him. I hadn't been to the store in what seemed like forever so we putzed around for a while before heading home.

Harry is quite the little traveler this week. Tonight we're going over to my dad's house to watch Modern Family and do laundry. Our condo raised the price of laundry so I'm thinking we'll be over there a lot taking advantage of their free machines :).

Dinnah
Dinner last night was a fun one. Ant had a craving for Chicago-style pizza so we ordered some Lou Malnati's. I don't think I'd ever had their deep dish before. I grew up eating Uno's and Gino's East. Lou's was pretty good, I ordered an individual size pizza with garlic and mushrooms.

While Ant went to pick up the pizza I burned cooked up some zucchini with garlic and oregano.

I actually did kind of burn it. But, it tasted good, so I guess I'll have to purposely burn it next time!

Our Sleep Schedule

I really hope I don't jinx myself by writing this!

Sleeping through the night. Four little words new parents can't wait to add to their vocabulary. We have been very blessed and were able to say that Harry started STTN around four weeks old. Seriously! He doesn't do it every night, but at eight weeks old, he's pretty consistent with it.

His last bottle of the day is anywhere from 11:30pm to 1am. After we're done I take him in our room, wrap him in a Swaddle Me or sleep sack and put him down in the pack n' play (he sleeps in his crib in the nursery two nights a week). I turn on his sound machine and some nights he is out in ten minutes, other nights it takes a bit longer. And on occasion he needs a paci to soothe himself to sleep.

So Harry typically falls asleep by 1:30am. And he always sleeps until at least 7am, but usually it's closer to 8-9am. Not too shabby!

I'm thinking in the next month or so I will start putting him to bed a bit earlier to see if he won't sleep longer. Also, I need to start transitioning him to the crib full time, he does well the nights he sleeps in there so it shouldn't be too hard. The only reason I haven't done it full time yet is because we don't have a baby monitor. I'm thinking of getting this inexpensive one from Amazon.

Oh, and in reference to my post from this morning, Harry decided to calm down for good around 3:30am, and did in fact sleep until exactly 10am, over six hours of sleep :).

And here is your daily dose of cuteness, taken on New Years Eve.

Staring contest!

I Should Be Sleeping...

Stock photos of a happy Harry

It's past 2:45am and Harry is being a big fussy butt tonight (this morning?). I've been wanting to do a post about our bedtime routine, but in the meantime, he usually goes down for the night around 1am so this suuuucks. He has been crying almost nonstop since I fed him what was supposed to be his last bottle of the day around midnight. After trying every trick in the book I thought maybe he was still hungry and fed him another small bottle. It.didn't.work.

I put him in the pack n' play about 15 minutes ago and I think he's finally starting to calm down. Although I've been back and forth a few times to give him back the paci he spit out. Hopefully I can now get to bed, after a very unproductive evening. Usually after I put H-man down I am able to do some housework for an hour or so; I was planing on working on his birth announcements tonight, but that obviously didn't happen.

The kid better sleep until like 10am, he owes me one :).

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years!

We had a quiet evening at home, which was just fine with me. I made teriyaki chicken stir fry for dinner. This time I used a lower sodium teriyaki sauce, and I gotta say, it was pretty good!

After dinner we just watched Ryan Seacrest's NYE coverage on ABC. Incredibly exciting stuff.

Right before midnight Ant and I popped a bottle of champagne.

Unfortunately we can't always have Dom Perignon. André is a nice $5 alternative, though! And this year I got the best New Years kiss ever.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe night!

I'm hoping to get a new toy this week, so excited for it, I can't wait!!!!!!

Tummy Time ≠ Nap Time

Harry hates tummy time. I mean hates it. When we first started doing it he didn't mind so much, but it seems like every time we do it he screams louder than the last. It's really frustrating since we're supposed to be doing at least a half hour a day (from what I've read) and we barely make it five minutes. Sigh...

We do have him sit up a lot and he has great head and neck control, but that doesn't help him learn to roll over (which he hasn't done again since the first time) and eventually crawl. The other day I saw that some parents roll up a towel to help support their babies while during tummy time. I decided to try that tonight to see if Harry might like tummy time a little better. He liked it a lot better.

Uhhhh, that's not going to work buddy! Ya, little guy promptly fell asleep!

I know we'll eventually get to where we're doing a half hour of tummy time so I'm really not too worried about it. But to get to that point it's going to take a lot of tears, which will be anything but fun!

Oh, and here's another picture I took today, just thought it was cute.

Newborn Photo Shoot

I mentioned a while back how we were getting newborn photos taken of Harry by my friend Jessica. Most newborn shoots happen during the first week, but with Harry's NICU stay and Thanksgiving we got them done on Harry's original due date (December 3), when he was nearly four weeks old. Here are a few of my favorites!

LOVE THEM!!!! Definitely look in to Jessica Leigh Photography if you're in the Chicago area!

I was waiting for the pictures to make Harry's birth announcements. I made a handful last night and will be finishing them up this weekend to send out next week. They're simple, but they look nice and I'll post them soon.

Bottle Boy

Look at my big seven week old boy!

This picture was taken when Harry was six weeks and six days, but close enough. I was feeding him and one of his hands grasped the bottle, so I put his other hand on it to see if he could hold the bottle. As you can see, it worked! Well, it worked long enough for me to take a picture.

Just wanted to share!

Harry's First Christmas

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! Yesterday was really low key since Ant's work schedule is weird, which was fine by me! We just had pizza for dinner, a new family tradition perhaps? However, Christmas Eve was more traditional.

We met up with my dad's side of the family at the banquet hall where we had our wedding reception. They have really good food but they were out of pasta which was disappointing.

Holding his grandson for the first time!

After dinner we went back to my dad's for a bit.

All in all it was a very nice holiday!

New Jeans

More photos from today's photo shoot

Earlier tonight the boys and I went to Old Navy, I desperately needed some new jeans. Our Old Navy had a giant clearance section and I was able to find two pairs for just $13 each. I also picked up a couple new tops; it was so nice not to have to shop in the maternity section anymore!

Harry did really well while we were out, he pretty much slept the entire time, which is always good. And now we're just watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix. Our Friday nights are always so exciting!

Oh, and I promised back in October that I had a few more maternity pictures to share once Harry was born. Here ya go!

Ohhh memories :). I probably should have included these in my post about choosing Harry's name, but better late than never, right? And I still need to do a post on his middle name. If only he would stop growing for a week so I can get caught up on everything.

Oh, and speaking of growing, he has officially grown out of one of his newborn size jumpsuits! This particular jumpsuit was on the smaller size and all of his other clothes still fit, but I'm sure it won't be too long until he is in 0-3 month clothing.

Christmas Photo Op

We are just two days away from Harry's very first Christmas so we thought it would be fun to take some family photos in front of our little Christmas tree. Harry is six weeks and four days old in these pictures.

I bought the ornament at Target, they had quite a few lovely First Christmas ones to choose from. I grew up with the Christmas tradition of getting a new ornament for the tree every year, going to the Hallmark store to pick mine out was always the highlight of the season! Now that I'm a mom I'm excited to pass down traditions like this to Harry (and any other kiddos who might come along some day), and I can't wait to create some new family traditions as well.

Oh, and in case you're not in the holiday spirit yet, here is an article from CNN about seven different Santa Claus'. It's actually really interesting, and I couldn't help but smile as I was reading it :)
