The Stouffer's meal for dinner was okay. I prefer my own chicken stir fry, but it certainly was a quick meal, which was nice. Ant said he'd eat it again, but I'm not sure if I'd even buy it again. If anyone has any good frozen food meal suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
So tonight after dinner I felt like a McDonald's vanilla cone. Who doesn't love those things? Damn, they're good, and low fat too! Fun Fact: Pregnant women have an increased risk of developing a listeria bacteria infection due to their lowered immune system. And guess which delicious frozen treat can contain this harmful bacteria? Yep, you guessed it... soft serve! The risk for developing a listeria infection is extremely low, even for pregnant women, so as long as it's from a reputable place (like Mickey D's or Dairy Queen) I think it's fine.
So, like I said, I wanted a vanilla cone. There are two McDonald's pretty close to our house, and Ant said the further one now had chocolate dipped cones, similar to the ones at DQ. It sounded good to me, so off we went. OMG... worst decision ever. The cone looked like a big blog of poop, not like the cute little swirly cones from DQ, and the chocolate shell didn't even cover all the ice cream. So, on the way home the stupid thing was dripping ALL OVER MY HANDS. Few things surpass my hatred for sticky hands; I can't stand having them or seeing other people have sticky hands (yes, I know I'm about to be a mother to a child who will inevitability have sticky hands just to spite me). Plus, the chocolate shell was way to thick to break, so every time I tried to eat some the cone dripped more.
When we got home I ran to the kitchen and threw the cone in a bowl and ate it with a spoon. I honestly don't think I've ever enjoyed eating ice cream less, it was a disaster. Moral of the story, don't get the dipped cones from McDonald's, they're horrible!
Ant and I got married back in December, and at the beginning of the year I went and got everything squared away to change my name. I really didn't want to, but Ant kind of pressured me in to it, so whatever. In one day I went to the court house to get our marriage license, the DMV for a new drivers license and the social security office to apply for a new social security card. About a week later I received my new social security card in the mail. It has my same social security number that I've had forever along with my new name. I thought that was the end of that, and then proceeded to change my name on my bank account and at work, both without any problems.
My dad is an accountant and did our taxes for us this year. We got refunds from both the state of Illinois and the federal government. The Illinois check came without any problems, however over three months later, we still have yet to receive our federal check (which is a lot more than the state one). So, I talked to my dad about it and he gave me a website to check on the status. The website said they were unable to find any information on our refund.
So tonight we gave the IRS a little phone call. Apparently my name really hasn't been changed, which is why we never got the check. Back when I filed for unemployment I had to file under my maiden name, and should have put two and two together a lot sooner, but I'll blame this pregnancy brain of mine. So, long story short, we have to refile our federal tax return. Because they do have it on file that we filed before the due date we won't be penalized, but this time we have to mail everything in (as opposed to doing it online) and I have to send in a copy of my social security card so they can verify that I did in fact change my name. What a hassle! So, we won't get the check for at least another six to eight weeks, uggh.
